What is Binocular Vision?

Binocular vision is the process by which the brain integrates information from an individual’s two eyes to generate one clear and comfortable unified image. The impact of Binocular Vision Dysfunction (BVD) can seriously impact one’s daily living which ranges from learning difficulties to balancing and mobility.

The symptoms of BVDs vary for each individual and age groups. It can happen to children with lazy eyes or strabismus (eye turn) or adults with head injuries.

Children with such vision issues tend to feel fatigued and have headaches when reading and studying. They may appear inattentive in class, avoid reading and studying, make careless mistakes and have difficulty completing assignments.

Consult an optometrist for a paediatric binocular vision assessment if you noticed these symptoms occurring regularly in your child.
